It is not just air-pollution that we see opportunities in, but in water as well. Note China just announced a $300bln (yes $300bln) investment into clean water today. China has 20% of the world’s population but just 7% of its water, and some regions have less water per capita than the Middle East (a desert). The program aims to improve the quality of China’s water by 30-50% through investments in waste water treatment, recycling and membrane technology (Abengoa exposed here). This will put further pressure on the coal industry – which uses massive amounts of water to suppress dust and clean the fuel before it is burnt.
